Among these luminaries, a name resounds—OJ Blaq, a Ghanaian rapper-turned-junior pastor who danced to a different tune when life took an unexpected turn.

In the midst of battling a kidney disease that threatened to silence his harmonious voice, OJ Blaq found an unexpected source of strength—a connection with the divine.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, he underwent a transformation that extended beyond his musical notes. It was a spiritual reawakening, an evolution that saw him embrace his faith with fervor.

The stage that once bore witness to his energetic performances now became a pulpit for his newfound message of hope and redemption as he became a junior pastor at the Empowerment Worship Centre.

OJ Blaq who became famous for his role in Sun City TV series and was later signed by Lynx Entertainment, where he released hit tracks such as ‘Chale Wote’, ‘Joley’, ‘Me Wo Mmaa’ and ‘Target’ emerged as a minister of the divine, strumming chords of faith and penning verses that spoke of grace.

His first gospel song, ‘His Presence’ was a song he hoped will pave the way for more spiritual and inspirational songs as he embarked on a crusade to win souls for God.

Throughout history, the entertainment industry has witnessed the rise of entertainers who, like OJ Blaq, found God amid the spotlight’s glare.

From musicians who traded fame for the pulpit to actors who turned their scripts into sacred texts, the entertainment industry has been a crucible for spiritual metamorphosis.

These personalities who were once defined by their craft, have become vessels for messages that transcend mere entertainment. Here are a few;

1. Majid Michel

Once a prominent figure in movies, has taken a different path, focusing on preaching and his faith in God.

2. Omar Sheriff Captan

Similarly, Omar Sheriff Captan, known from Tinsel, has shifted his focus to matters of spirituality and healing ministry.

3. Ofori Amponsah

High-life musician, Ofori Amponsah briefly embraced a pastoral calling in 2012 before returning to his music career.

4. Yaw Siki

Yaw Siki was a promising rap artist who experienced a life-altering accident that led him to embrace Christianity and spread his message, even preaching in Trotros.

5. Azigiza Jnr

Victor Kpakpo Addo, also known as Azigiza Jnr, has expressed no regrets about his decision to follow Christ.

Azigiza Jnr was a prominent DJ and radio presenter during the 90s, even winning the title of Best DJ in 1993. He is now a reverend minister.

6. Quophi Okyeame

Another example is Quophi Okyeame, formerly a hiplife artiste, who shifted into full-time gospel ministry after a transformative encounter with God in 2012.

7. Akosua Agyapong

Similarly, Akosua Agyapong, once known for her secular music and dancing skills, has now transitioned to gospel music and is showcasing her talents within the church.

8. Lord Kenya

The veteran hiplife artiste gained fame through numerous secular hits before becoming Evangelist Lord Kenya and dedicating himself to the Christian faith.

9. Papa Shee

The former Highlife star famous for his song “Atadwe,” has transformed into Evangelist Papa Shee, leaving behind his profane past.

10. Timothy Bentum

Actor Timothy Bentum known for his acting roles overcame a history of drug addiction and now shares his story as a testimony to spread the word of God.

He organizes evangelical outreaches to reach others with his message.

11. Kaywa

Kaywa, a renowned music producer recognized for his signature phrase, has embraced his Christian faith and recently became an ordained minister of God.

12. Henry Harding

Henry Harding also known as Pattington Papa Nii Papafio from “Taxi Driver” fame, now preaches at the Lifted Yoke Chapel after being ordained as a Minister.
