How social media reacted to the news of Black Sherif’s alleged arrest

The news of Ghanaian musician Black Sherif‘s  alleged arrest at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) caused a stir on social media on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, with fans and followers expressing various reactions.

 

The VGMA Artiste of the Year shortly after the news broke took to Twitter to tweet the official video of his song “Paradise,” which left some fans questioning the authenticity of the news.

 

Several fans were quick to debunk the information, expressing scepticism about the accuracy of the reports.

While others criticized news outlets and bloggers for spreading what they perceived as fake news without having full details of the situation other fans shared their frustration about his arrest.

One user pointed out how artists like Shatta Wale have been vocal about their frustration with the media for sharing unverified information.

Despite the initial doubt, others were concerned about the alleged arrest and expressed their support and love for Black Sherif.

They urged everyone to cease spreading negativity and to support the artist during what they perceived as a difficult time.

 

However, there were also some negative reactions, with one individual cautioning Black Sherif to be careful and stay out of trouble, highlighting the challenges that can arise in the entertainment industry.

“Nobody loves you bro not even your closest buddies. When that storm comes you’d know. Just take care of yourself and stay outta trouble. these streets can be cold breda..❤️,” the fan advised.

Amidst the reactions, some fans showed their unwavering support for the artist, emphasizing his achievements and the pride he has brought to Ghana through his music and performances.

As news of the arrest spread on social media platforms, it was finally confirmed that he was arrested due to a contractual breach involving a show in Greece and an amount of $40,000 that was involved in the transaction.

Blogger and Radio Host, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani of Kofi TV also confirmed the news of the arrest, providing more context to the situation.

“We called our sources but we are yet to call Black Sherif to hear his side of the story, however, it appears it is due to issues with the organizer of the event where he was contracted to play on a cruise ship in Greece after he charged US$40,000 and receiving half of the amount,” he explained.

Black Sherif’s management team is yet to speak on the matter as the musician remains in police custody.
