Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeats musician, Mr. Drew, has cleared the air about parting ways with his record label, Highly Spiritual Music.

Speaking to Cookie Tee on TV3’s Newday show on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Mr Drew clearly stated that his contract with Highly Spiritual Music had ended and it was not obligatory to renew it.

He added that it was also a decision to progress in his career.

“Everyone wants growth; you can’t stay in one place for a long while. It’s more about moving ahead,” he added.

The ‘Dw3’ hitmaker who doubles as a dancer noted that he has the blessings of Kaywa, his former manager.

He indicated that he had to rethink and do the right thing, but for now, he has decided to follow in the footsteps of superstars like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie who are thriving as independent artists

The ‘S3k3’ hitmaker believes he can also thrive in the music industry as an independent artist until a record label comes his way.

The talented musician has a new single titled ‘Tomorrow,” which is a motivational and relatable song.

Born Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, Mr Drew started off as a dancer before later switching to become a full-time musician.

He was the first runner-up at MTN Hitmaker Season 6 in 2017, after which he was signed to Highly Spiritual Music, founded by music producer and engineer Kaywa.

In 2021, Mr Drew released his debut album, dubbed Alpha, which featured Seyi Shay, Victor AD, Kwabena Kwabena, KiDi, Kelvyn Boy, and Rebekah.
