I was really hoping to pick up Songwriter of the Year and Best Music Video – Piesie Esther

Ghanaian gospel musician, Piesie Esther has expressed her disappointment for not winning the Songwriter of the Year and Best Music Video awards at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

In an interview with Berla Mundi and Cookiee Tee on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Piesie Esther revealed that she had high hopes of winning both awards for her hard work and dedication to her craft.

“Oh my goodness, I wanted to pick awards for Songwriter of the Year and Best Music Video. I believe the video for Way3 Me Yie was well top-notch and deserved to win,” she said.

Despite missing out on the two awards, Piesie Esther was happy that the songwriter of the year went to fellow gospel musician Perez Music for his song ‘Hewale Lala’.

“For that one, it’s fine by me but I wished I could have snagged the Best Video Award,” she maintained.

Piesie Esther who was adjudged the Best Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year was however full of gratitude to her fans and organizers of the VGMA for the honour done her.

The VGMA is an annual event organized by Charterhouse Ghana to celebrate and award the best musicians in Ghana.

The 24th edition of the awards ceremony was held at the Grand Arena in Accra on May 6, 2023, and featured performances from various artists across different genres.
