Ghanaian Gospel artiste MOG Music has indicated that claims suggesting that Gospel musicians do not perform their own songs are entirely false.
Many Ghanaians have criticized some gospel musicians for putting together other popular Gospel songs and performing such songs on stage rather than their own hits.
Speaking on a Twitter Space with AJ Sarpong on Sunday, May 7, MOG Music debunked the claims while explaining that other popular songs are added to only buttress their performance.
“We do our songs very well, but the problem is we don’t get the airplay the secular artistes get. Most of our songs will be played at dawn. Primetime radio will not play your worship songs,” he stated.
“It is very unfair to say that all we do is put songs together and perform popular songs on stage.”
He indicated that Gospel artistes regardless of the situation try as much as possible to perform their own songs before adding any other songs to spice up their performance.
“If we don’t perform our songs, then why do we record them in the first place?”
He further said in his context as a gospel artiste, it is allowed to do a medley when copyright rules are obeyed.
Born Nana Yaw Boakye, MOG Music has been a top Ghanaian contemporary gospel singer and Songwriter for the past 10 years.
