Afrobeats sensation, Davido, has finally opened up about his ongoing struggle with grief following the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi.

In a recent interview with Omega, the Nigerian artist opened up about the profound impact his son’s passing has had on his life and music.

Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke were thrown into a state of mourning on November 1, 2022 when a series of events led to the death of their son who was under the supervision of adult staff, a few days after his birthday.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, an autopsy done on the body of Ifeanyi showed that his death was caused by drowning. Two suspects who were arrested by the police are still under heavy investigation.

According to Davido Music Worldwide boss, in spite of the passage of time, the memories of his late son still bring tears to his eyes each day.

While many anticipated that his latest album, ‘Timeless,’ would carry a somber tone due to the loss, Davido chose to create “bangers” instead, seeking solace and healing through his music.

“With Everything that has just happened, I don’t think I’ll be sitting here. It’s brought some type of healing for me and my wife,” he shared.

In the heartfelt interview, Davido expressed the depth of his grief, saying, “I miss him every day, there are tears coming out of my eyes every morning, you don’t have to see it.”

Davido stated that he also has the responsibility to be stronger for his wife and his son’s memory.

My son up there is looking down at me. Apart from me being strong for his mom, which is my primary responsibility, I have to be strong for the world.”

Despite the immense pain he carries, Davido believes that Ifeanyi and his late mother, Mrs Veronica Adeleke, are watching over him, finding solace in the thought that they dance to his songs in heaven.
