Award-winning Disc Jockey, DJ Vyrusky has joined the discussion regarding Ghanaian musicians’ reluctance to attract large audiences internationally by selling shows abroad.

Speaking on the Ladies Circle show on TV3, he underscored the challenges associated with this endeavor, citing the requirement for extensive promotion and meticulous strategic planning.

“You can’t be in Ghana and you want to sell out O2.like it doesn’t make sense. You can’t be here not going to the UK to promote yourself as an artiste and want to sell out a concert there” he stated.

This discussion originated from a more extensive public conversation regarding why Ghanaian musicians have yet to make significant strides in selling out international shows, in contrast to the achievements of Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake.

Vyrusky emphasised that a crucial strategy for achieving success in selling out shows abroad is collaborating with international artists. He pointed to examples like Nigerian superstar Wizkid and rising talent Asake, highlighting their successful partnerships as a key factor in drawing larger audiences overseas.

Additionally, Vyrusky underscored the role of event houses in ensuring the effective promotion of shows stating their importance in bringing together the necessary elements for a successful overseas concert, from marketing and logistics to venue selection.
