Asante Kotoko are facing a hefty fine of GHC 80,000 from the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association following their disruptive behavior during a clash against Nations FC.

The disciplinary action stems from incidents that unfolded during their matchday 6 encounter at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

A section of aggrieved fans, displeased with a penalty call by the referee in the dying moments of the game, resorted to destructive behavior. Chairs were reportedly destroyed, and objects were thrown onto the field in protest. Despite the match concluding in a 2-2 draw, the fans continued to vent their frustration by damaging objects at the facility.

The Disciplinary Committee’s investigation identified a ‘breach of Article 16(c) and Article 16(2)(f) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.’ Consequently, Asante Kotoko has been handed the substantial fine, and the amount will be allocated to Nations FC to address the damages caused by the reported Kotoko fans.

Meanwhile, Kotoko bounced back to winning ways by beating Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday thanks to Sherif Mohammed’s striker from the spot in the 60th minute.
