Berekum Chelsea are determined to conclude the Ghana Premier League season on a high note by defeating Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
A loss for Hearts of Oak, the 21-time champions, could potentially lead to their relegation from the top flight.
Heading into the final round of matches, Hearts of Oak find themselves three points away from safety in the 11th position.
However, their chances of avoiding relegation are complicated by several teams below them holding better head-to-head records.
This situation has sparked significant interest in the final matchday of the season, given that Hearts of Oak are the second most successful club in Ghana.
Hearts of Oak will secure their safety if they manage to avoid defeat in Berekum, while Chelsea will be playing for pride as they have nothing at stake in the match.
Nonetheless, Chelsea striker Emmanuel Sarpong has issued a warning, expressing that they will show no mercy to the Phobians.
In an interview with Oyerepa FM, as quoted by Ghanaweb, Sarpong stated, “I do not know where these speculations are coming from. I do not know how we will give the game to Hearts just because they are facing relegation.”
He further added, “We started the league together, so if you failed to do things right, I don’t think any club will play a match of convenience to save you. It doesn’t happen in the Ghana Premier League. As a player, I do not care whether it is a big club or not, we are only going to play to the instructions of the coach, and if that gets us the result we want, so be it. As the playing body, we are fully focused on our training to ensure we win the game.”
Hearts of Oak will end the season without any silverware.
