Moises Caicedo has vowed to elevate his performance and bring joy to the club in a bid to reassure Chelsea fans amidst the team’s disappointing run.
Despite the high expectations following his move from Brighton and Hove Albion, the Ecuador international has faced criticism for a less-than-impactful start to the season.
Caicedo, who snubbed late interest from Liverpool to join Chelsea, acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence in his ability to bounce back. Currently sitting in 12th place on the Premier League table with five wins, four draws, and seven losses in 16 games, the Blues are seeking a turnaround.
“The old Moises will be back and will continue to triumph and give a lot of joy to Chelsea. I’m calm because I knew moments like this would come, and I need to remain mentally strong,” Caicedo assured.
The midfielder, signed for a club record fee during the summer, faced heightened expectations, especially after the intense bidding war with Liverpool. While forming a midfield partnership with Enzo Fernandez, both 22 years old, Caicedo acknowledges the need to deliver more based on their cost to the club.
Despite the early struggles, Caicedo remains unfazed and anticipates returning to his best form at Stamford Bridge. The upcoming Premier League clash against Sheffield United provides an opportunity for Caicedo and Chelsea to rectify their recent performances and relieve pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino.
