Chelsea bid farewell to Baba Rahman after eight-year spell with the club

Ghana defender Baba Rahman has officially departed from Chelsea after spending eight years at the club. Despite facing challenges during his time at Chelsea and being loaned out multiple times, the Premier League side expressed their good wishes for Rahman’s future endeavours.

Rahman joined Chelsea in 2015 for a reported fee of £14 million. However, he struggled to establish himself in the team, featuring in only one season before being sent out on loan to various clubs. Despite the ups and downs, Rahman maintained a positive relationship with the club.

The 29-year-old has now completed a move to Greek side PAOK, signing a three-year contract. His departure from Chelsea was mutually agreed upon, with the club agreeing to pay 80% of his remaining one-year contract salary to facilitate the move.

In a statement, Chelsea said, “We wish Baba well as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.”

Rahman’s time at Chelsea may have had its challenges, but his departure marks the end of an eight-year spell with the club.

Rahman completed a successful loan spell with PAOK during the second half of the 2021 league season. He made 13 appearances in the league, scored a goal, and played a key role in helping the team secure victory in the Greek Cup.
