After Comoros secured a surprising 1-0 victory over Ghana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, fans of the Comoros national team took to social media to add insult to injury by trolling the Black Stars.

Ghana experienced a setback in their World Cup qualifying campaign, succumbing to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Comoros in Moroni. The decisive moment came with a brilliant first-half strike from Myziane Maolida, sealing a notable upset over Ghana on home soil.

Chris Hughton’s side struggled to play on the front foot and faced challenges throughout the match against Comoros. The defeat marked Comoros’ second successive win over the Black Stars, following their victory in the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

As a result of the upset, Comoros now tops Group I of the World Cup qualifiers with six points, surpassing both Mali and Ghana.

In the aftermath of the game, a Comorian football page on social media, @ComorosFootball, took advantage of the victory to troll Ghana. The page shared a viral video of Ghanaian comic actor Akrobeto, using humour to taunt the Black Stars.

Much to the displeasure of some Ghanaian fans, they vented out their frustration by criticizing the team’s performance describing it as an ‘all-time’ low which has paved the way for minnows like Comoros to make fun of the four-time African champions.
