Ghana defender Alidu Seidu reveals admiration for Sergio Ramos

Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu recently expressed his elation at realising a childhood dream when he had the opportunity to play against his football idol, Sergio Ramos, earlier this year.

The 23-year-old defender, who started for Clermont Foot, faced off against Ramos, who was playing for PSG, in June in a clash that saw Clermont Foot emerge victorious with a 3-2 scoreline.

Seidu, currently serving a suspension due to a red card in a recent game against Lens, revealed his admiration for Ramos’ fighting spirit and playing style, citing the veteran defender as a significant source of inspiration for him.

“When I was little, I really liked Sergio Ramos. He’s a player who goes into duels, fights, and is always there,” Seidu shared in an interview with Ligue 1. “In good times, he’s there, in difficult times, he’s there. He always gives his all. It’s true, he gets a lot of red cards, but he’s a player who never gives up. When I had the chance to play against him in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, it was a dream come true!”

Having risen from the famous JMG Academy, Alidu Seidu secured a move to Clermont Foot B in 2019 and has since ascended to become a key player for the team in the French Ligue 1.

Seidu has suddenly become a key player for the Black Stars as well establishing himself as the team’s right-back in crucial encounters including Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Sergio Ramos returned to Spain this summer signing for Sevilla.
