Former Black Stars striker Tony Yeboah has expressed his strong dissatisfaction with Ghana football’s current state, calling it “dead.”
Yeboah, who is renowned in Ghanaian football for his impressive goal-scoring record and unwavering dedication to the national team, has revealed that he no longer follows Ghana football.
In a recent interview on Peace FM, Yeboah lamented the downfall of Ghana football, attributing it to the failure of authorities to heed the advice provided by former players. He firmly believes that the sport in Ghana is suffering as a result of corruption and bribery.
“I don’t know what is going on because I don’t follow. Everyone knows Ghana football is dead because they didn’t listen to the advice we gave them from the beginning. So I think they are currently facing the punishment. If you involve bribes and stuff like that in football, you will destroy the game,” Yeboah stated.

“The only advice I can give them is that they should go back and train the kids for youth (football) and develop Colts football either than that it will be difficult to get top players like we used to have back in the day. It will be very difficult.”
Yeboah’s remarks come on the back of the Black Stars’ struggles in recent tournaments, failing to advance beyond the group stage in both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup last year.
Furthermore, Ghanaian clubs have struggled to make an impact in African competitions in recent seasons, with none reaching the lucrative stages.
