Hoffenheim coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has shed light on the absence of Black Stars centre-back Kasim Adams from the playing field in the ongoing Bundesliga season.

Despite being a key player for FC Basel on loan last season, Adams is yet to make an appearance for Hoffenheim this season.

The 28-year-old defender, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Basel returned to Hoffenheim this season after the Swiss club opted out of making the move permanent.

Coach Matarazzo explained that past instances of instability in Kasim Adams’ performance are the primary reason for his absence this season.

Despite Adams showcasing his defensive prowess and composure on the ball in training, the coach cited occasional lapses leading to goals as a factor contributing to the Ghanaian defender’s limited playing time.

“Kasim has his qualities; he can defend hard, he’s good on the ball and composed, even under pressure. We have a past that has shown that every once in a while he has situations that are not stable, that lead to maybe goals,” Matarazzo told Joy Sports after Hoffenheim’s recent 2-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Despite his lack of playing time with the German outfit, Kasim Adams was invited by Hughton in Ghana’s previous assignment in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers featuring in both games against Madagascar and Comoros.
