Atletico Madrid forward Memphis Depay expressed his delight with his recent visit to Ghana, describing it as a special experience.
The Dutch international, who has Ghanaian heritage through his father, has made it a tradition to visit Ghana during his summer break.
This year, he was accompanied by former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and other friends. While the main purpose of the visit was philanthropic, with Depay making donations to the Cape Coast School For The Blind And Deaf, he also took time to enjoy the country’s beautiful beaches, nightclubs and even went jet skiing.
The footballer had a memorable time and has expressed his intention to return in the future.

Now, with his visit to Ghana behind him, Depay has turned his attention to the upcoming pre-season with Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish giants have a series of exciting fixtures lined up. On July 30, 2023, Atletico Madrid will face Manchester City as part of the “Coupang Play Series” hosted jointly by Korea’s streaming service Coupang Play and sports marketing agency Pitch International at Seoul’s World Cup Stadium.
Following this high-profile match, Atletico Madrid will continue their pre-season preparations with two friendly fixtures in August. On August 3, they will face Real Sociedad at Estadio BBVA, followed by a match against Sevilla on August 6 at Oracle Park venue.
These pre-season games will provide Depay and his teammates with valuable opportunities to fine-tune their skills and build team chemistry ahead of the new season.
