Lionel Messi starred in the series

Lionel Messi surprised fans over the weekend when he made his acting debut in the popular Argentine TV series Los Protectores.

The World Cup winner’s performance on the hit show impressed viewers as he demonstrated his acting abilities.

The former Barcelona icon appeared as a steely character in a cameo appearance on Sunday night’s thrilling episode.

Los Protectores follows the journey of three football agents who band together to save their careers and avoid financial ruin.

In the season two premiere, the trio approaches Messi in Paris with an intriguing proposition. They pitch a project that will help young players start their careers at a club.

But Messi’s enthusiasm for the project wanes when the guests become too intrusive, demanding photos.

Tensions rise when one of the agents suggests a business plan for Messi to play for various teams during his vacation, prompting his enraged rejection. Messi expresses his disappointment, pointing out that the concept presented deviates from what was initially promised.

Messi, who has seven Ballon d’Ors and is a heavy favourite to win the eighth this year, impressed fans, with some hailing him on social media.

Messi will join Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer after parting ways with PSG following two seasons with the French giants, winning two Ligue 1 titles.
