Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, the renowned Nigerian singer and rapper widely known as Odumodublvck, has shared his perspective on the age-old debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, advocating for Messi’s status as the greatest footballer in history.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Odumodublvck, a fervent football enthusiast and self-proclaimed Arsenal and Barcelona fan, expressed why he believes Messi deserves the accolade over Ronaldo.

“Cleared everybody’s doubts – and he won the World Cup. After losing five or four finals with Argentina. That is a symbol of hope, a symbol of determination. Do not give up,” he stated, emphasising Messi’s resilience and triumph on the international stage.

The artist, best known for his 2023 hit “Declan Rice,” dedicated to Arsenal and England’s Declan Rice, revealed that he draws inspiration from Messi in his music career. Despite reaching stardom at the age of 30, Odumodublvck shared that the journey took him seven years, making Messi’s perseverance a motivational force.

“I know how far I have come to get here. It took me seven years to get to this point, so when I look at Messi I draw inspiration. That is why he is the greatest,” he explained, highlighting Messi’s influence on his own path to success.

While expressing admiration for Ronaldo’s dedication and hard work, Odumodublvck offered a piece of advice to the former Manchester United forward. “Shoutout to Ronaldo because of hard work. Ronaldo is that guy too. And there is no problem if someone is better than you at something. That is my message to Ronaldo,” he concluded.

Having vied for numerous accolades, particularly during their tenure in La Liga—Messi with Barcelona and Ronaldo with Real Madrid—the duo has treated fans to breathtaking football moments, fueling the enduring debate over who truly reigns as the best.

Now seemingly in the twilight of their illustrious careers, both football legends have ventured beyond Europe. Messi finds himself donning the colors of Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, while Ronaldo plies his trade for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
