Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has declined an offer to coach in Saudi Arabia.

Gerrard had been linked with a job as coach of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, according to reports. However, the 43-year-old has decided not to take advantage of the opportunity.

The former England captain guided Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in a decade in 2021 before moving on to Aston Villa, where he was fired in October.

He has not actively coached since then, instead taking on punditry duties for Premier League and Champions League games.

Gerrard spoke to Channel 4, saying, “I was invited over there to look at a potential offer, which I did. I have been analyzing that over the last couple of days. But, as we stand right now, I won’t be taking that offer up.”

In recent months, Saudi Arabia has witnessed an influx of high-profile names in football. Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines by signing with Al-Nassr in December, while Karim Benzema left Real Madrid to join Al-Ittihad Club. There have also been reports linking the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, and Edouard Mendy to potential moves to Saudi clubs.
