Award-winning Reggae-dancehall artist Stonebwoy added a touch of musical magic to the Black Stars’ farewell dinner with President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday during a night of celebration and motivation held in Kumasi.

The event, held ahead of the team’s journey to Ivory Coast for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), featured heartfelt performances, well-wishes, and a star-studded guest list.

The Black Stars players, enjoying the company of Stonebwoy, soaked in the musical vibes provided by the acclaimed artist while posing for memorable photos to mark an exciting event.

President Akufo-Addo seized the moment to extend his best wishes to the team as they embark on a mission to end a 42-year AFCON title drought, the last triumph being in 1982.

Singathon queen Afua Asantewaa Aduonum graced the occasion with her presence, serenading attendees with the national anthem to welcome the president. The ceremony saw the gathering of notable figures, including top officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with President Kurt Okraku leading the delegation.

Accompanying President Akufo-Addo were key figures in his administration, including Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, and Hon. Seth Adjei Baah, Board Chairman of the Ghana Tourism Authority. The esteemed presence of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was represented by Nana Kusi Agyekum Ababio, Oyokohene of Kumasi.

The Black Stars are scheduled to depart for Ivory Coast on Wednesday in preparation for their opening AFCON match against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Subsequent Group B clashes await against formidable opponents Egypt and Mozambique.

Determined to redeem themselves from the disappointment of the 2021 edition, where they faced early elimination in the group stage, the Black Stars are poised for a strong showing in the upcoming tournament.
