Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has reacted to the remarkable performance of Black Stars midfielder Majeed Ashimeru emphasising the legitimacy of his continuous recommendation of the Anderlecht player.

Gyan who hung his boots in June 2023 after an illustrious performance has been an emphatic advocate of Ashimeru’s insistence on his inclusion in the Black Stars team.

The midfielder who has struggled with injuries lately made headlines with a brilliant performance for Ghana against Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Ashimeru, 26, despite climbing from the bench in the second half was touted as Ghana’s best player in the game by fans after the former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder bossed the midfield while helping Ghana to get a last gasp win thanks to a brilliant header by Inaki Williams.
