A young West Ham United fan is hoping for the early exit of the Black Stars from the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) because he wants Mohammed Kudus to be back to the club sooner.

Kudus is anticipated to join the Black Stars for the tournament set to commence in January 2024, potentially causing him to miss several West Ham games over nearly a month. This absence could pose a significant challenge for the Hammers as they enter the crucial stages of the season.

In a post-match interview with West Ham Fan TV on YouTube, following West Ham’s impressive 3-0 victory against Wolves in the English Premier League, the young fan revealed his hope for an early exit for the Black Stars in the AFCON.

“I don’t know; let’s just hope that Ghana gets knocked out early so we can have him back.,” he said

Despite the unconventional wish, the young fan praised Kudus for his outstanding performance in the match against Wolves, where he scored a brace in the first half. He described Kudus as a “full package,” highlighting his defensive and attacking prowess, and expressed admiration for the Ghanaian’s goal celebration.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in the summer, has been a crucial member of the team, consistently delivering remarkable performances. The 23-year-old Ghana international has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions for West Ham United in the ongoing 2023/24 Premier League season.

While the young fan’s wish might be unconventional, it underscores the impact and popularity that Kudus has gained at West Ham in a relatively short period. The player’s performances have left a lasting impression on fans, including this young supporter, who eagerly anticipates Kudus’ return to the Premier League action.
