Kwadwo Safo Jnr., the CEO of Kantanka Automobile, has set the record straight concerning the information that his team ignored the Wanderlust Ghana team when they tried to have an audience with him prior to embarking on the 10,000KM London to Ghana trip.

Addressing the issue in an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3 New Day, he stated, “I only found out about the expedition on Saturday, I was not contacted. I trust my team, and they said they were not contacted either.”

Safo expressed surprise at the allegations, mentioning that he had been unaware of the journey due to his recent absence from the public eye.

“The funny thing is I only got to know about this expedition on Saturday and I was marvelled because I’ve not really been out there lately because I was not feeling too well so I just took some time off to rest. I had no idea of the expedition,” he disclosed.

He revealed that he loves cars and driving, and if he had been informed, he would have been eager to participate.

“You know me very well. Aside from being the C.E.O, I love cars, I love driving so if it was something that Katakana was going to be on, I’d have probably two cars and maybe be in one for the trip,” he added.

Accusations of a lack of communication on the path of Katanka Automobiles emerged on Monday, August 7, 2023, after the Wanderlust Ghana team successfully completed their extraordinary 10,000-kilometer journey from Accra to London.

Richard Anim and his team revealed that they sought support from various Ghanaian automobile manufacturers, including Kantanka, for their audacious expedition.

However, they claimed that their efforts were met with silence and indifference, raising questions among well-meaning Ghanaians

Kwadwo Safo Jnr.’s after hearing the news initially took to Twitter to address the situation.

He tweeted, “Was never contacted ooo. Hmm. A few heads will roll since it’s a Monday. This is something I would have loved to be part of.”

In his interview with Berla Mundi, Safo also clarified his motive behind the tweet, explaining that it was meant to quell tensions among the company’s supporters and well-wishers, who were voicing their discontent and criticism.

The accusations, if proven true, could mark a missed opportunity for potential collaboration between Kantanka and the Wanderlust Ghana team.

A partnership could have offered a unique platform to showcase Ghanaian innovation and engineering on a global stage, aligning with Wanderlust Ghana’s mission.
