Zlatan Ibrahimovic couldn’t hold back his tears as he made the heartfelt announcement of his retirement from football on Sunday.
Following AC Milan’s final match of the 2022/23 Serie A season, the 41-year-old Ibrahimovic revealed his decision to step away from the sport.
“I have many memories and many emotions in here,” Ibrahimovic told the crowd.
“The first time I arrived here you gave me happiness. The second time, love. I will be a Milan fan for life.
“The time has come to say goodbye to football, but not to you. See you around, if you’re lucky. Forza Milan and goodbye.”

Ibrahimovic, visibly moved by the occasion, received a touching tribute from the Milan fans who serenaded him with their support, creating an emotional atmosphere with many shedding tears alongside the football star.
As he bid farewell, Ibrahimovic was honoured by his Milan teammates who formed a guard of honour, a symbolic gesture of respect and admiration.
After an illustrious career spanning an impressive 24 years, Ibrahimovic leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having accumulated an impressive 34 trophies throughout his journey, cementing his status as one of the game’s true legends.
He played for many top clubs including AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester United and Ajax.
