#GMB2023: Selorm of Volta Region wins ultimate title

Selorm Magdalene Gafah, a contestant from the Volta region has emerged as the reigning GMB queen, marking the end of a remarkable 13-week journey.

She beat competition from Greater Accra Region’s Naa Ayeley, Nurah and Aduanige to clinch the ultimate title.

Naa Ayeley secured the 1st runner-up position, followed by Kwartemaa in 3rd place, Nurah and Aduanige as the 5th contestant.

Each finalist carved a unique path to success, showcasing Ghana’s rich diversity and talent.

Selorm: A Triumphant Journey

From the outset of the competition, Selorm exhibited her star potential by becoming the first contestant to claim the ‘Star Performer’ award. Although she faced a lull in winning awards during the mid-competition weeks, her determination and the support of her fans propelled her to the semi-finals.

There, she shone once again, securing awards for her exceptional performances. Her grand finale act highlighted the unique culture and traditions of the Volta region, winning the hearts of both the judges and the audience.

Selorm’s unscripted eloquence during the segment addressing pertinent Ghanaian issues further showcased her public speaking prowess.

She went home with a car and a cash prize of Gh¢15,000 from Media General, Gh¢10,000 worth of medical insurance cover and spa treatments from DrugNet, VVIP access to spa services for 3 months at Cleliza Spa, a bouquet from Nadash Global Events, A Tecno Camon 20 series and Gh¢5,000 worth of Tecno products as well as a trip to Dubai from Global Wings Travel & Tour.

Naa Ayeley: The Epitome of Elegance

First runner-up Naa Ayeley distinguished herself as one of the competition’s most eloquent contestants, earning accolades such as the ‘Most Eloquent’ and ‘Star Performer’ awards.

Despite facing eviction at one point, her past performances secured her place in the grand finale. Her captivating presence and eloquence during the finals made the Greater Accra region proud.

She earned Gh¢6,000 worth of medical insurance coverage and spa treatments from DrugNet, 4 sessions in a month of spa treatments from Cleliza Spa, Gh¢5,000, a Tecno Camon 20 series and Gh¢2,000 worth of products from Tecno, packages from Gino, a trip by kind courtesy of Global Wings Travel & Tour and Gh¢10,000 from Media General.

Kwartemaa: A Journey of Authenticity

Hailing from the Bono region, Kwartemaa will be remembered for her candid and humorous moments, like the memorable statement “The corset is really corseting.”

Her dedication to educating viewers about her region’s offerings stood out throughout the competition. Her authentic approach resonated with the judges and the audience, earning her the 2nd runner-up position.

As a send-off, she received Gh¢8,000 from Media General, Gh¢4,000 worth of medical insurance coverage and spa treatments from DrugNet, GTP Fabrics and a trip to Dubai, sponsored by Global Wings Travel & Tour.

Nurah: A Voice of the North

Nurah, representing the Northern region, showcased the cultural heritage of her region with her powerful voice and was a multi-award winner in all three categories.

Her journey served as a learning ground, transforming her into a seasoned and ripe talent for future endeavours.

She walked away with products from Belpak Tissues and a cash prize of Gh¢6,000 from Media General.

Aduanige: The Unexpected Star

Aduanige from the Upper East region may not have been a frequent award-winner, but when she did receive recognition, it was well-deserved.

Her efforts in spotlighting the unique features of the Upper East region made her a source of pride for her community. She gets products from Unilever 

Ghana and Gh¢4,000 from Media General.

All 5 got hampers from Darling Lemon, Save500, Sankofa Natural Spices, Top Choco, Ernest Chemist and Shalina.

Vitamilk also gave the 1st three contestants a box of their products and 5,000 worth of exercise books sponsored by Menkish Impex, Ena Pa Foods and Heaven Insecticide Spray and Coil were given to all 16 contestants (a CSR activity to promote education in Ghana).

Though securing different positions, these five finalists are all victors in their own right. Through their diverse talents and unwavering dedication, they’ve proven that they are all queens in their unique ways. Congratulations to them for an incredible journey in GMB 2023.
