Ghanaian radio presenter, Felicia Osei has said that to all the people complaining about what Ghanaian and Nigerian TikTokers do, they should go and study and come and start their own trends.

Speaking to King Kwaku Mensa on Showbiz University, the female presenter was hesitant in picking a side when it comes to talks on whether or not TikTok makes people’s music hits.

“Let’s all agree to disagree. They have their reasons why they said that. If you want to agree with them, you have your reasons why you want to. If you don’t want to agree with them, you have your reason for not wanting to be in agreement with them,” she said.

According to her, “A lot of musicians also said that TikTokers really contributed to their songs going viral. Most of them said it was all talk and it didn’t help. So currently, most TikTokers and content creators have stopped music promotion.”

Addressing how she felt about people that looked down on her line of work, saying that Ghanaian and Nigerian TikTok was just fooling while that of the Chinese and the likes are driving social change, she stated that “Whoever wants to promote social change has their phone and camera so why not start? I think if you believe you can do something, you should start from home. Charity begins at home and so does madness.”

She continued, “If you think you’re tired of Ghanaian and Nigerian TikTok content creators, stay with the Chinese people. After learning, come back to Ghana and start a trend so we follow. Maybe we haven’t really thought about changing the trend. We think it’s all about making people laugh and release stress. Looking at the state of Ghana and Nigeria, we can’t do anything but laugh.”

When asked to use the podcast platform to advise people that wanted to enter her space, she indicated that “Be yourself. Do whatever you think would attract viewers. Don’t be abusive. Negativity sells but don’t be abusive. It’s not nice.”
