Ghanaian actress Luckie Lawson has praised renowned movie producer and director Shirley Frimpong Manso, emphasizing that Manso’s remarkable contributions to the growth of Ghana’s movie industry deserve greater celebration.
According to the actress the renowned director’s works, including notable films like “Perfect Picture,” “Potomanto,” and “Shampaign,” have garnered significant accolades in an industry largely dominated by men.

“Shirley needs to be celebrated for her contribution to the growth of Ghana’s movie industry. The producer/director role is mostly dominated by men, but Shirley has proven to be one of the best movie producers, challenging her male counterparts and achieving tremendous success. I really admire her for that,” Lawson shared with Graphic Showbiz.
Highlighting Shirley’s resilient spirit, Luckie Lawson expressed her aspiration to emulate the acclaimed filmmaker.
Lawson had long admired Manso from afar and felt compelled to voice her admiration for her work.

Through this collaboration, Lawson gained firsthand experience of Manso’s dedication and unwavering pursuit of excellence.
“I knew her to be one of the best but never knew her as someone who never rests until she gets what she wants. She wouldn’t mind asking you to do several takes for one particular scene. In fact, a lot of actors refuse to work with her because she also wants the best. Working with her on ‘Madam’ brought me closer to her, and my love and admiration for her have only increased,” Lawson revealed.
Although Lawson has produced movies herself, she acknowledges that Shirley Frimpong Manso operates on a different level and serves as an inspiration to many in the industry.
