Stonebwoy rallies support for Black Stars

Dancehall and Reggae musician Stonebwoy has reiterated his hope in the Black Stars to go far in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) stating that qualification to the round of 16 will be a mere formality.

This comes after Ghana who were hoping to beat Egypt in their second group game settled for a 2-2 draw owing to defensive lapses.

As the Black Stars face a must-win situation in their final group game against Mozambique, Stonebwoy has assured Ghanaians to have faith in the team highlighting their undermined capabilities in the game against Egypt.

According to the award-winning artiste, Egypt only got a point by fluke and Ghana were the better side.

“God bless Ghana. Let’s put on the fighting spirit, Ghana. That’s all. We can overqualify, I’m telling you. What did Egypt play today? Their goals were not really good goals. We just need to be wise,” he said after the game.

The Black Stars were on the verge of beating the Pharaohs on Thursday night as they aimed to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde in their first game. However, a brace from Mohammed Kudus who returned from injury with an impressive performance was not enough to claim the maximum points for the four-time champions who gave away the lead twice.

Looking ahead Ghana will face Mozambique on Monday and must win at all costs to stand a chance of progressing to the round of 16 drawing parallels with a similar situation in the last edition where they failed to beat Comoros in their last group game to qualify.

Stonebwoy has partly been part of the team’s journey having performed at their farewell dinner with the president of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo to inspire the team ahead of the tournament.

The versatile singer has also drawn attention to himself several times when he expressed his love for football and other sports as well.

On the other hand Mohammed Kudus in the past has openly declared his love for the musician as previously reported by 3xtra.tv
